There is nothing chilly about Team RunnersConnect results race with 6PRs and outstanding efforts in all race distances from 5K to the marathon.

Annaliza Fleuri ran her first marathon at the TCS New York City Marathon in NYC finishing this distance in the time of 4:44:16.

AFThis was my first ever marathon! I finished at a respectable time of 4:44:16 despite horrible conditions (cold and very windy – 40 mph) and running with injuries (both hip and feet). This has been such an accomplishment because I wasn’t able to stick to my training program when I got diagnosed with both plantar fasciitis and hip bursitis about two months before the race. I was only able to do one really long run at 18 miles for the entire training, so I felt undertrained going into the race. But overall, I’m happy with the results and I’m happy that I was able to finish! Thank you, Coach Jamie, for your guidance and support!

Donna Ferguson ran the TCS New York City Marathon in NYC finishing this event in the time of 4:58.

Donna FerRunning the TCS New York Marathon was without a doubt the toughest feat of my life but brought me a pride and joy that’s hard to put in words! (I suppose it is similar to giving birth after all:) I confess I went into this with a bit of uncertainty I had trouble shaking, as my training schedule had even less miles on it than I ran prior to MCM last year & that one was labeled “beginner” due to my “very prone to injury” status. 3 weeks after MCM I was injured yet again having to DNS a few early ’14 races, thus the uber conservative schedule. Due to the predicted high winds we rec’d notification all tents & structures would be removed from the start line and baby was it ever chilling cold!! When I finally got corralled more than 3.5 hrs after arriving I was ready for what I knew would be an “experience” to remember.. the first race I’ve ever ran where most of the runners kep t their sweatshirts, gloves, hats on as we crossed the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge with gusts up to 40 mph. What gear had been discarded was flying about. I fought to stay upright being blown sideways & a tad diagonally forward. Garmin showed 15 min pace & I walk faster than so thought, hmmmm… so much for pacing HA! I did however watch my lap pace throughout & could hear Jeff’s description of how to run the course.. Felt achy early on & thought I’d shake it but I didn’t… was “on pace” the first half when my body began telling me it was struggling.. I decided it was best at this point to extend my walks I took at fluid stops if I was going to finish vertical. As I looked around & took in the beauty of the diversity around me, the relentless cheering of the crowds, so proud of their boroughs & so welcoming, the children all bundled up & out there with their signs, high 5s all around, I was filled with a joy I can&r squo;t describe & I couldn’t erase my smile. I walked much of the final half (& I never train that way), so rather than being devastated that I finished 21 mins slower than MCM, I was thrilled I made it in under 5 with a time of 4:58… I know I have a 4:30in me but this day it just wasn’t to be.. a Garmin malfunction & stomach ache threw off my timing on fueling & I didn’t get it all in but I was fueled by the joy & kindness of the people of New York, the camaraderie of my fellow runners from all over the continent, the history & cultural diversity of my surroundings and I had the time of my life! Not only did I live to tell about it, I feel healthy & strong & ready for a fabulous 2015!!

Karen Wilson ran the TCS New York City Marathon in NYC completing this marathon in the time of 4:05:26.

KWilsonI didn’t know my finish time I looked it up on my phone and discovered I came in at 4:05:26. Coach Jaime had my marathon pace at 9:20 and I averaged a 9:22! Happy, happy, joy, joy! I have truly been on a wonderful journey. I met people from all over the world at the marathon and also through RunnersConnect. I’m so grateful to RC and the support I had gotten throughout my training. I didn’t know what to expect when I signed up. It was the best thing I could have done. I know the system works. I wouldn’t have been as prepared and conditioned without RunnersConnect. Amazingly my legs aren’t sore- I’m usually doing the “Franken-walk”. It’s three days out and I feel great! Thanks to everyone who gave me encouragement and the confidence I needed to run this marathon. I really can’t thank ya’ll enough!

Stephanie Hoven ran the Rock and Roll Savannah marathon is Savannah, GA finishing this race distance in the time of 3:55.

It was marathon 20 for myself. Perfect running weather. Loved course and spectators. Highly recommend

Russell Friedberg ran the Rock and Roll Savannah Half marathon is Savannah, GA coming across the finish line in the time of 1:31:01.

RussellFBeautiful city. Best race I’ve run out of the last 5. Had juice in the tank at the end for a5:43 last .17 miles. I have a shot at my PR in December.

Carl Mankiewicz ran the Rock and Roll Savannah Half marathon is Savannah, GA finishing this race in the time of 1:37:20 which a PR of over 5 minutes.

PR Baby!!! Great venue. Very flat.

Blake Chiado ran the Naperville Half Marathon in Naperville, Illinois finishing this race event in the time of 1:27:32 which is a PR by 45 seconds.

BlakeCI finished my goal marathon a little over a month ago along with accomplishing my goal for the year (Boston BQ). So, as the temperatures started to drop so did my drive and motivation. I trained like I was back in high school, doing enough just to get by. However, even though it wasn’t as fast as I would have liked or what I believe I’m capable of, I still do feel some sort of achievement. I ran the whole race by myself and was able to maintain a solid pace throughout the entire race (which is pretty good for me because I usually lack consistency in pacing and have found that to be one of my weaknesses). I only fell off pace once when I was pas sed by 2 other runners at mile 12 which seemed to let the wind out of my sail for a while and I started slow. I still was able to shake it off, regroup and get back on pace for the last mile and a half. Looking back it’s still great to know that all the training I put in for the marathon over a month ago is still paying off today-thanks coaches and community!

Bas van Delft raced the Spark 15K in Spijkenisse coming across the finish line with a time of 1:00:35 which is a PR 2 minutes and 18 seconds.

basMy hopes were to go under the hour, but it wasn’t to be this day. It was however a beautiful sunny day and with over 2 minutes off my PR, I mustn’t complain!

Cristy Brewer ran back to back events at the OBX Marathon event weekend in Kitty Hawk, NC in which she completed the 10k in the time of 59:18 which a PR of 7 minutes and the half marathon in the time of 2:13.

This race was awesome – did a 10K on Sat and HM on Sunday. I was not a believer in the run easy = faster paces. I never thought after running at 12:50 – 13:30 paces during training I would run an under 10 min mile – but I DID!! I have been running slower to do aerobic training but Jamie said to not worry about it on race day – so I have no idea what my heart rate was, but I felt GREAT! For the half marathon this was not a personal record, but I really believe it could have been – I slowed down on mile 6 because I was scared of crashing at the end – I have come close on my first 2 halves. Not this one – I felt GREAT. Training at slower paces has made a huge difference in my endurance! I can’t wait for the next one!

Corrie Rose ran back to back events at the OBX Marathon event weekend in Kitty Hawk, NC in which she completed the 10K in the time of 58:54 and the half marathon in the time of 2:09:02 which was a PR by 2 minutes.

This was my first 10K. I’m pleased with my time since I had a left leg muscle issue, but my personal goal was 9 min miles which I feel I could have done with no problem if my leg was 100% In the mid 40-50’s, no wind, no rain, nice running conditions. This was run on sand and then some packed sand/stone. Not a road race. For the half marathon, it was special because it was on the spectacular coast of north carolina, the outer banks. Weather was perfect in the 40-50’s no wind no rain. My left shin was only 90 percent so did not give it what i coul have if i was 100 percent, but i will take it!

Eric Eidsmoe ran the Mid-Land Half marathon in Midland, MI finishing this distance in the time of 1:56:22.

ericMid-Land Half marathon in Midland, Michigan. I woke up to a winter mix of rain with a little snow thrown in, 35 degrees, and a little wind. Fortunately by race time the rain stopped and the wind died down. I don’t think it was any warmer though! I didn’t intend to run this very hard and after the first mile I got in a comfortable rhythm and kept a fairly steady pace until mile 11. At that point, since I was feeling pretty good, I picked it up a little to the finish and actually negative split the last 5 miles.

Dave Porfiri ran the Chickamauga Battlefield 5K in Fort Oglethorpe, GA finishing in the time of 23:31 which a PR by over 1 minute and winning his age group.

This was the first 5K I’ve run since May and I was very happy to shave a minute off my time. I also won my age group for the first time in any race and finished in the the top 20.

John Ranger ran the Ironman 70.3 – Mandurah Relay in Mandurah, Western Australia finishing his half marathon portion of the event in the time of 1:44:30.

john RangerI was asked to do the run leg in a relay team for the half ironman in Mandurah after the original runner pulled out with illness. Unfortunately I had only 24 hours notice so no taper, no carb loading and coming off a couple of hard workouts and a quad strain! To male matters worse the max temperature was forecast to be 36C (97F)!! After the swim and bike legs had been taken care of I set off at 11:17am and it felt like the temperature was already getting close to the maximum. Luckily there were aid stations every 2km and I made use of every one. Ice, water, electrolytes and best of all a blast from a hose made the run somewhat bearable. Anyway it was clear I was not going to be able to run a PR so I settled in to run as close to marathon pace as I could and managed to maintain that pretty well (despite walking through the majority of the aid stations), even managing a 32 second negative split. It was also great picking up my teammates as I entered the finishing chute so that we could all finish as a team

Glenn Wiedenhoeft ran the Rails to Trails Marathon in Norwalk, WI finishing in the time of 4:13:51.

What makes this race special is the beauty of SE Wisconsin hills in Autumn, and the 3.4 mile railroad tunnel! On the return tunnel section, I was so excited that my 2nd fastest mile of the race was mile 22! This was marathon #4 – all four times the same race – This allows me to make meaningful comparisons: At 57, I am getting older but not faster, in spite of trying to train smarter (e.g., with RC training plan!) and eat better, etc.
