Monster PRs at 50k, Marathon and HM Lead Team RunnersConnect

Matthew Stewart ran the Australian Running Festival 50k Ultra in Canberra, ACT, Australia finishing in the time of 4:01:36 which was a huge 58 minute PR. Matthew had beautiful running weather this run his race. The course was hillier expect but will prove to be a great training run for his preparation for the Comrades Marathon in June.

M StewartWent through the marathon checkpoint 3:23:20 which certainly is no where near my PR but this was paced and planned with other goals in mind.  Then it was onto the lonely extra 8km loop for the hardy ultra folk. That’s when I could have used a little extra fuel as the legs started to feel heavy and the pace slowed a bit. I reckon another jelly bean and I would have cracked 4:00! Still a 58 minute PB in a year is good going.

John Ranger ran his first full marathon at the HBF 3 Waters Running Festival in Bunbury, Western Australia finishing in the time of  3:55:22.

john RangerThis was my first ever marathon. Having completed my first ever half last August I needed a new challenge. I got accepted into this years Berlin marathon via the lottery but needed something beforehand to split the training periods. My preparation was a little disrupted with shoulder surgery, as well as all the usual niggles that befall 47 year olds that suddenly take up long distance running. The achievement, however, makes up for all the pain and suffering and hopefully inspires my 3 children to set goals that they can work hard to achieve.

Mary Stocker ran the Whidbey Island Half Marathon in Oak Harbor, WA  finishing in stellar time of 2:07:36. She had a great day racing with her family participating in the half as well other distance events.

MarySThis was a modern history PR (within the last 10 years). I grew up on Whidbey Island so it was fun to race on roads that I’d trained on over 30 years ago.

Sidney Pires Ferreira ran the Corpore Half Marathon Sao Paulo, Brazil coming across the finish line in 2 hours and 6 minutes.

SydneyIt was my first run in that place. I didn’t know the course and I didn’t exercise in last week, but I felt great, because I didn’t walk any time. I feel I can improve my finished time, just need to take some lessons about workouts and I’ll complete my next half marathon under 2 hours.

Marie-Noelle Camoes ran the Iron Girl 5K in Clearwater, FL finishing in 32:07 which was 2 second improvement over her last 5K. She ran a solid race and completing her last mile the strongest and fastest mile of the race.

It was a really memorable race to me not because of my time but being part of such an amazing, positive atmosphere. It was a fun race and did better than I thought given I have not been training sufficiently. And the bridge was not a fun encounter. Still want to break 30 min which I feel is doable sooner than I think! But overall pretty happy with the race.

Vatsal Bhikha ran his first marathon at the London Marathon completing the distance in 5 hours 18 seconds.

VashalMy first marathon and very pleased that I managed to finish this given that my longest single running session had been 16 miles. Training plan saw me through. Not once did I have any problems with cardio. The London experience was awesome. Lots of encouragement from the crowd to lift you when you needed it and an amazing feeling when I finished. I felt a huge sense of achievement, despite the pain and I’m keen to try again (someday) and do better.

Patrick Douglass ran the Schoharie 5k in New York finishing in 24:16 and PRed by 1 minute and 11 seconds. He had a amazing weather and the support of his family which helped him run a strong race.

It was my first race of this year. I had a goal of beating my best time I have had in the past for my first spring race and did so by 0:1:11. I was surprised at how well I felt and think I could have actually ran it faster. Looking forward to the next race and a new PR.

Jennifer Sheely raced the Blue j 5K in Baltimore, MD finishing in 21:04.

jsTesting out what kind of shape I was in before the track workouts start.

Vladimir Selec ran the Vienna City Marathon in Vienna, Austria completing it in 3:21:50 which was 25 minutes improvement and BQ.

First Half of this marathon I beat my half marathon PR by 1 minute 1:45 – 1:44. The second half of the marathon I bit my PR Half Marathon by 9 minutes 1:36 🙂 My planned pace for the race was 4:55, I ran4:46…I ran my last 2 out of 42 k the fastest pace 4:18 per km 🙂

Dean Morley ran the London Marathon finishing in a blistering time of 2.55.02 which was 2 minute and 55 second PB. He has execute the perfect fueling strategy having gels every 30 minutes and than a salt stick half way through as well as amazing pacing to have a just a few seconds ahead for a negative split.

dean-morleyA fantastic marathon, made even better by hitting my target time and knocking 2.5 mins off my PB. Couldn’t have done it without the RC team 🙂

Alexandre Charest raced the half marathon in Rimouski completing it in the time of 1:36:01. This was a tune-up race and was the second best half marathon out of 10 events.

acI managed to shave 12 minutes from my last HM, the one that I ran 8 months ago a few weeks after joining RC. I followed the plan, starting a little slower for the first 5k and then picked up the pace a little. I had targeted 4:32/km but was a little slower mainly because of GI cramps that began around the sixth km. Anyway, I was able to manage without stoping and I was even able to compensate my slow start in the last 2k. I’m very happy with the result and I foresee PRs on every distances in the next few months!

Jessika Welcome ran the Presidio 10 in San Francisco, CA finishing her first 10K race in 1:11:56.

My first 10k! And I ran every step of the way.

Marilyn Tams ran the Lethbridge College 10 mile road race in  Lethbridge, Ab completing the distance in 1:30:22.

MTThis was a tougher race than I realized! Lots of hills! Missed my PR by 30 seconds :(. Was fun anyways, the hill made it tough to PR, but other than that I felt like I ran a really solid race!

Greg Myers raced the Garden Spot Half Marathon in New Holland, PA finishing in 1:55 which was a huge PR of 17 minutes.  He enjoyed a beautiful day on a beautiful course.

GMyersBoom! Not only did I hit my Sub-2hr goal, but I crushed my Half Marathon PR by 17 minutes! I can’t find the words to describe how pleased I am right now.
