2 PRs and a Triumphant Return to Racing Highlight the Weekend for RunnersConnect Members

The first official weekend of the Fall was another solid weekend of racing for the RunnersConnect team as athletes continued their tune-up races or put the finishing touches on their summer racing seasons.

Up first was Pearson Smith who was facing her first real racing test after suffering a stress fracture early in the Spring. Despite the altitude, uphills, tough training week, and early-week wildfires that put the race in jeopardy, Pearson finished right on her target goal of 1:32:11. Even more impressive, Pearson’s time garnered her 1st place female and second place overall. This definitely puts her performance in perspective and it was a great vote of confidence as she continues to gear up for the NYC Marathon in November.

Chris Connor closed out his racing season with a fantastic run at the NYRR 5th Avenue Mile. Chris’ goal all summer was to break 4:30 and we’re happy to report he finished in 4:29! Chris put in a lot of hard work and really sacrificed the last few months to achieve his goal and we couldn’t be more proud!

James Bonaugure raced for the second weekend in a row and once again recorded a new 10k PR with a time of 43:49, which was a 1 minute, 8 second improvement. This marks the end for James’ summer racing schedule, but after huge improvements the last few weeks, James is more motivated than ever to rest up and get back to training.

Just a couple of more weeks before the big Fall Marathons roll into town. I hope everyone is staying calm during the taper and using these great performances from teammates as a reminder of how fit you are!
