Teams RunnersConnect had a red hot weekend from a Race Win, PRs and First time races.

Kyle Bowman raced a hometown 5 mile race in Ohio finishing not only 11 seconds faster than last years time but took first place overall winning the race in the time of 26:54.

KylePretty pleased with race: 5mi splits: 5.16, 5.25, 5.26, 5.27, 5.18=total 26.54  Wasn’t much competition so didn’t put in 100% effort but I would say it was still a solid effort. Get ready for next sat-10k, should be better competition there.

John Bair ran his debut half marathon at the Eugene Half Marathon in Eugene, OR finishing in the time of 1:50:03.

J blarThis was my first half marathon, and I feel well prepared from the RC training program, and all the hard work and prep. They also held IAFF junior world track championships at Hayward Field, so I watched the Saturday semi and final relay races and other matchups beforehand. The race finished coming into the track in Hayward field, and it was a really great experience to have run in a place with such a great history.

Stacy Thomas ran the St Dennis Festival 5K in Madison, WI coming across the finish line with a time of 23:44 which was a PR of 1 minute 7 seconds.

5K race as part of my church’s festival. It ended up being a PR but it’s not good when my 1st mile was also a 1mile PR. I also was 3rd in my age/gender group. Maybe someday I’ll learn not to start races so fast, but today wasn’t that day.

Tatyana Zicko ran the second half of the San Francisco Half Marathon finishing in the time of 1:33:25 which was a course PR.

TA little disappointed that I missed ranking in my age group by 3 seconds and my Garmin splits were much better (7:01 vs.7:07). However, a better performance than last year and I felt much better. Hills were easier, HR lower, energy good. Think training on my hilly route helped along with speed work. I think I need to combine the two for some workouts in prep for races.

Kelly McHenry ran the San Francisco Half marathon completing this event in the time of 1:47.

KellyHThe SF Marathon is one of the biggest races of the year in San Francisco, my current hometown. I was planning to run the half at a slower pace with my boyfriend, who is just getting into running — but he was injured at the last minute and I had to run it alone. The circumstances allowed me to run much faster than I initially planned, but I didn’t put adequate prep into nutrition, sleep, etc. in the days leading up the race. I felt sluggish and a bit sick during the race — which was a nice wake-up call to show me how important it is to eat, hydrate, and sleep properly before a big race

Rich Rein ran the Lumberjack Run 7K in Hayward, WI finishing this distance in the time of 35:38 which was a PR of 38 seconds.

RichReinThis was definitely just a fun race – a small town race as part of the World Lumberjack Championship festivities, and a great way to get a run in while having fun with family.

Eric Sullivan raced the Wharf to Wharf 6 miler in Santa Cruz, CA coming across the finish line with a time of 36:07.

EricGreat race. Was included with the “Elite” corral which was pretty cool to start. The race was pretty hilly but I was able to keep a nearly perfect consistent 6 min pace throughout. I liked the times they posted yesterday at 35:51 better than the “official” time they posted today at 36:07, but I dropped from 165th place to 139th place… so you win some you lose some. I think to become a better racer you need to race more often… considering this was my first race at this shorter distance in several years – I’m really happy!

Russell Friedberg raced the Deseret Classic Half Marathon in Salt Lake City, UT completing this distance with a time of 1:28:22.

RussellFI went out for a PR. 9 miles in, I was in good shape – on pace for a 1:27:09. Then the wheels fell off – averaging 6:55 over the last 4 miles (including a 7:11 mile 13). Yes it was at elevation (and I train at sea level), yes it was 85 degrees, but I really thought I had it. . In the end, when I told my legs to kick, they said no. Still – another sub 1:30 HM. My 2nd fastest HM yet. I don’t know if anyone else is like me – but if I didn’t have it right out of the gate, I’d chalk it up as one of those days. To come so close though . .

Ashlea Perry ran her debut half marathon at the Winery Running Festival in Australia finishing with the time of 1:54.

AshleaMy First Half Marathon! So happy with this run!! Under 2 hours on a very hilly course.
