Teams RunnersConnect celebrates the season with 9PRS and Age Groups awards.

Emily Pilotte raced the Frosty Half Marathon in Raynham, MA coming across the finish line in the time of 1:37:45 which is PR by over 3 minutes.

EmilyPThis was a well organized, small race that I really enjoyed. The weather was not as frosty as it could have been, which was great. My Garmin showed this to be short by .1, so I’d have to add about 50 seconds to make it more official. So 1:38:35 is probably more accurate. Anyway, it was a PR (by about 3.5 minutes). The course had some hills, and a pretty challenging one around mile 9, but I was able to get back on pace and take advantage of some downs. The RC workouts really prepared me for the last 3 miles. The Colonial Road Runners, who put this on, had a fantastic spread of food afterwards like I’ve never seen before! They also gave out medals, a hat and an ice scraper to all finishers, and trophies for awards. I got to spend some time with fellow RC’er Theresa Brennan, which made the day even better. It was a really fun morning!

Sascha Fennel ran the U Giru De Natale 10KM in Monaco finshing this race distance in the time of 48:16 which is PR by 1 minute and 58 seconds.

SaschaFI am extremely happy about this race. With 48:16 I managed to be almost two minutes faster than my previous PR giving mr my firt 10km race with a negative split. 24 :30 for the first half and supposedly 23 :42 for the second.  Thank you RC, for enabling me to do this by providing me with a great training plan and strategic understanding. Thank you Jamie Dodge for guiding me as well as you do. Thank you RC community to be a tremendous support in good and bad days. It has been the perfect last race for this year motivating me to do even better to further improve in 2015 !

Dennis Moore ran a Holiday 10K in Blue Springs, MO coming across the finish line in the time of 48:35 which a PR by 3 minutes and 34 seconds.

DmooreGoal – sub 50:00 / Finish – 48:35 PR of 3:24 for the 10K .Three big mental victories as well: 1. Ran without a watch. Not on purpose, left the Garmin at home and realized too late. Ran “by feel” as best I could with Runkeeper giving time cues each quarter mile. 2. Negative split. I wish I had the data to see the actual splits, and the chip timing only gave the finish, but I know I ran the second half faster than the first, and had enough left to really push hard the final mile. 3. I did this wearing an elf hat the entire way.

Karen Hulbert ran the Jingle Bell Run 5K in Kankakee, IL finishing this race in the time of 25:05 which was a PR of 45 seconds and 1st in age group award.

My last 5K was in July which was a PR also at the time. I enjoy running in colder temps and have been doing more speed training lately. My sister also ran the race, which has the last mile loop around so when I finished, she was just coming up on mile 2 so I ran with her to the finish. We never entered a race together before so it was a lot of fun.

Shawn Stewart ran the Dallas Marathon in Dallas, TX finishing this event in the time of 4:13:50 which is a PR by 19 minutes.

ShawnSI was trying to run a sub 4 and had a good plan in place to do so. The plan was to hang around the 9:20 range for most of the race and then burn all that I had in the last 10k. My half split was about where I needed it to be as I was running along with Ben Bratcher. We both wanted to break 4. As I got into the 17, 18, 19 mile area, I felt good…but I just felt the time slipping away from me. Despite that, I remained patient. As I got into the last 10k, my legs were dead and heavy. Stopping for water at around 22 was a chore to get going again. Once I did, I knew I was not going to be able to stop again or I was not going to get going again. I just didn’t have the juice in my legs to get my time back that I used earlier. By this time, I knew I didn’t have a chance to break 4….I ended up running the 2nd half slower than the first. Kinda a let down. I felt the weather was fine, we had some rain / clouds and temps in the low to mid 60s thru out the morning.

Patrick Flynn ran the Dallas Half marathon in Dallas, TX finishing in the time of 1:57:19 which was a PR.

PatrickFDallas Half Marathon. Very pleased with my time overall and my ability to keep running even when “uncomfortable”. This was my 3rd half of the year and I took 13 minutes off from first to last.

Luis Cifuentes raced the Saint Silvester 10k in Salamanca, Spain coming across the finish line in the time of 42:44 which is a PR by 2 minutes and 45 seconds.

It was my first race after recovering from a plantar fascitis with heeel spurs on both feet.

Sara Ham ran the Jacksonville Half marathon in Jacksonville, FL finishing this race in the time of 1:57:09.

SaraHIt was just for fun and I had a good time running it. My husband got to come cheer me on along the course, something that doesn’t usually happen b/c normally he has to watch the kids (thanks Grandma). I was a long way from home too and ran into an acquaintance.

Lisa Thomas ran the Jacksonville Bank Marathon in Jacksonville, FL finishing this race distance in the time of 3:55:51.

LisaTAlthough this was my 11th marathon – this was the first time training with an online group. I loved the training even though sometimes I didn’t understand and some of the workouts were very hard – the result was a solid marathon performance and a BQ! And more importantly, I remain injury-free. After being injured for 2 years, this is an accomplishment for me. RC has taught me not to be afraid to run easy on easy days and to stick to the program. This marathon was important because I have had some poor performances in my last races and have aged up and was beginning to think this was it. But now I know there’s no limit as long as you train sensibly and within you’re own strengths. Thank you RC !!

Martin Marker ran the Holiday Half Marathon in San Diego, CA finishing in the time of 1:25:47 which is a PR by 4 minutes.

MMarkerSan Diego Holiday Half Marathon went great. I felt strong the whole way. Rolling hills the whole way but the downs were greater so you could take good advantage. 64th overall and 14th age group. Avg pace 6:30,

Meghan Ling ran the San Diego Holiday Half Marathon in San Diego, CA finishing in the time of 1:38:46.

MegLIt was SO cold in Calif. today, for us anyway! It was about 40ish at the start so coats, hats, gloves and running pants were everywhere! I know, we’re such wimps! I wasn’t wimpy at my approach to this race though. I am a die hard go-out-way-too-fast-and-die- at -the- end -of- the- race type of runner. Today, for the first time in my running career, I decided to stick to the plan. I decided to run my 7:30 race pace goal for Boston for ten miles and then do what I could do following that. Since I have been basically injured AND still running for the last four years, the previous run hard and die philosophy has obviously not worked for me. That’s actually how I wound up here at RC. I needed a clear, easy, focused approach to training and racing AND I needed strength training. Thanks to RC, I ran a race with a plan, finished injury and almost pain free(well, it was a down hill race so I’m a little sore in the quads)and am super proud of my efforts. I trained right up to the day of the race, following my RC workouts and actually felt really energetic throughout the race. I had a lot of energy, strength and power and even felt like I was holding back for the first 8 miles or so. This helped in my last two miles because I was able to negative split and take a few minutes off of my time. This is huge for me. It’s what a race should be…controlled, executed with care and FUN! I feel pain free tonight, happy and very grateful to RC.

John Gardener ran the Old Father Time 5 miler in Cardiff finishing this race event in the time 35:32 as well as earning an Age Group Award.

It was the Welsh Master’s 5 mile Championship! So I received a Silver Medal for the M70 Category. For me it meant that I had recovered from my hamstring injury! It wasn’t a PB as I ran a 5 mile race in 2013 in 34:05.

Jason Bryant ran a half marathon race as a tune-up race for his marathon finishing this race in the time of 1:44:07 which was a PR by 7 minutes.

JasonMy time for this race was 1:44:07, which is a 7-minute PR, and that included a “pit stop” that lasted almost exactly 1 minute. I felt strong and fast today, but I don’t know if I was 1:44:00 fast when you factor in an extra minute for a restroom stop. If you add .3 miles to the course at my average pace I’m looking at something more like a 1:46:30, which seems more true to what my fitness and perceived effort today (felt pretty dang easy) would suggest. It’s only a couple minutes one way or the other, and I know without a doubt I would have PR’ed in this race, but I’m a bit bummed to sign up and pay for a race (and not a very cheap one, mind you) only to finish the thing without knowing what my actual time was. But not to focus on the negative, I felt fantastic today and the weather was ideal for racing. To run this race at this point in my marathon cycle is a big confidence builder. My training runs have been sluggish lately, so I needed this one. One more long tempo run and then it’s all downhill from there. Marathon is less than 1 month away
