Team RunnersConnects beats the heat with 3PRS from the 5K to the marathon and one half marathon debut.

John Sheridan ran his first half marathon at the Chicago Rock n Roll Half Marathon in Chicago, IL finishing this race in the time of 2:12:39.

John SThis was my first half as a race. I went straight to the marathon from 10 miles as my longest race. Based on my recent 10-mile PR, I had wanted to break two hours today, but I knew that with the 81 F heat and 87% humidity this wasn’t going to happen. I had a well thought out race plan, but that went out the widow at the start. Even mile one was rough. Some people were already high into their aerobic zone by mile two, huffing and puffing, and I just let them pass me by. I learned to take what the day gave me and to adjust my expectations and plan today—and later in the race, I ended up passing some of those same people who went out too hard. That’s always kinda nice. Oh, and I got a high five from Meb at mile eleven, so there’s that.

Brenda Steedman ran the Sydney Harbour 10 in Sydney, Australia coming across the finish line in the time of 54:13 which was a PR by 47 seconds.

BrendaSThis was my 10km tune up race – in contrast to those in the North we had to contend with a strong cold front brining snow to the highlands and a very cold wind to Sydney. In spite of that it was a great race around the Harbour bridge and The Rocks in Sydney. Mostly flat, It is a good course for a PR – which I did – official time 54m13s a 47seconds PR! Temp 4C (with wind chill) wind 28km/hr and 87%humidity.  The start felt very slow since there was a pretty big crowd starting but my Km splits were:  5.46, 5.31, 5.24, 5.32, 5.27, 5.32, 5.29, 5.14, 5.10, 5.04 I was particularly happy with the last 3 km – gradually increasing my pace with the last km the fastest. I really think that the hill and sprint training in my schedule over the past two months really helped with this result! Also, in my last 10km race I stayed with the 55m race pacers who ran at a steady pace for the whole race – I got there but the race wasn’t as enjoyable. I much prefer to be able to set my own pace. I think it helps me race better.
10.6 kilometers in 0:57:51

Tim Peoples ran the Run Eddie Run 5K in Edwardsburg, Michigan finishing the race event in the time of 27:40 placing 2nd in his Age Group.

TimPThis race was held in a small town in Michigan to raise money for the schools. We were visiting friends and My daughter and I decided to run. The weather was great with temperatures around 70 and no real wind. the course was out and back through the streets of the small town. Three things made it special 1) I ran with my daughter who placed second in her age group! 2) I placed second in my age group behind a Marine Vietnam War veteran who blew my doors off! 3) I think I may have recovered from my hip issues in time for San Francisco this Sunday. Thanks Coach Jamie for all your encouragement!!!!

Bob Murney ran the Hopkins Raspberry 5 Mile Race in Hopkins, MN coming across the finish line with a time of 36:42 which is a PR of over 3 minutes.

Decided to break up an 11 mile run by running a 3 mile w/u before the 5 mile race and a 3 mi. c/d after the race — 88 degrees and only 250 runners entered the race, so just went for it — kind of nice to win your age division even if it is simply a matter of declining talent and numbers that make it possible — I’ve never run 5 miles under a 7:30 pace, so it was great to find out that was possible. Now to work up to a similar pace for the marathon (ah…dreams…).

Gavin Rogers ran a 12k trail race in Wales, United Kingdom finishing with race distance in the time of 46:39.

It was a tough off road race with a few hills and trials thrown in. Pleased with my time for 11 weeks out and strength in legs felt good. On my program is a half marathon next Sunday which is quite hilly. With my main goal being the Chester marathon on October 4th which is predominately flat.

Sandeep Lele ran the Gold Coast marathon in Australia  finishing this race in the time of 4:18:31 which was a 8 minute PR.

Thank you Coach Jamie, I followed your schedule for the race day till around 20 km. That was the distance where I had to pick up pace, I did pick up pace for a couple of miles, but the track and the surroundings were so beautiful, and plus a flat track- I decided to take it easy, the 4:15 bus was around, I ran with him.. Got a bit slow due to a muscle twitch at around km no 34 , took it easy later, and finished strong .. But one thing I realized, I never felt so strong and comfortable throughout a race… Thanks coach and thanks RC!

Anne-Lise Vivier ran the Boomer’s Cystic Fibrosis Run to Breathe (4M) in Central Park, NYC, NY finishing this race in the time of 36:26.

Anne_liseVThis race was the last one I needed to run this year to gain guaranteed entry into the 2016 NYC Marathon. Mission accomplished! This was not my best race ever, but I was tired and it was very humid (the skies opened at mile 3, actually), so I think I did okay considering the circumstances. And I couldn’t continue to PR at every race. 🙂
