Team RunnersConnect keeping it hot as the weather turns cool with 12PRs in all race distances from 5K to the Marathon.

Theresa Brennan ran the Baystate Half Marathon in Lowell, Ma finishing this race in the time of 2:14:11 which was a PR by 3 minutes.

TheresaI’ve been struggling for the past year just to complete long runs and races. I never felt like I had any energy and would have to walk every time. I found out that I had a very low iron issue and have been taking prescription supplements now for a few months to get my levels back up. Today was the first time that I have ever raced anything – I actually had the energy to race this time (instead of just trying to survive). Yes it was a time PR but it is more meaningful that I felt so strong the whole way through.

Samantha McMenamy ran the Denver Rock n Roll half marathon in Denver, Co coming across the finish line in the time of 1:59:40 which was a PR by 2 minutes and 26 minutes.

Samantha MI trained all summer and was very blessed that things went well (no major injuries or sicknesses). I really put my faith in the coaches and am proud that my PR was achieved at altitude!

Edward Sum ran the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in Toronto, Canada finishing this race distance in the time of 3:19:30 which is a PR of 3 minutes and 3 seconds.

ESumThis was my 10th marathon. The training cycle went really well during the summer and fall. Coach Casey and I had a negative-split strategy going into the race and we aimed for 3:15 to 3:20, with preference closer to 3:15. Though I followed it exactly up to 25k, I wasn’t able to kick it into another gear from that point onwards, so I basically had to maintain my pace all the way to the finish. I still ended up with a 3 min. PR and I had to dig “extra” deep the last 2k to get under 3:20. I learned that no matter how well-trained you are and how disciplined you’re with your pacing, sometimes, it’s not necessarily your best day. However, I was still happy with the result and appreciate all the hard work I’ve put in through this journey. More work on the way!!

Morley Lee ran the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in Toronto, Canada coming across the finish line in the time of 3:16:37.

Heading into this marathon, I trained pretty hard and followed the schedule. It was a very windy day with the temperature of 3c. Looking back I started alittle too fast and ran out of gas. My fault. I wanted to break 3:15:44 which was my PB and came up short finishing 3:16:37. The race was well organized with great spectator support. I tore my abdominal fascia in March earlier this year playing hockey and still went to Boston. I should not of went to Boston but I did and I ended walking the last 14 miles. I could not do any core or run without pain so I am pleased with the result of this race in Toronto. So thanks to all the coaches for their guidance, support and knowledge especially Jamie for her endless encouragement when some training runs did not go so well. More importantly than the time goal I have learned so much about running and will try again next year. Right now we are headed to Hawaii for 10 days!!

Chris Carrier ran the Frank Lloyd Wright 10K in Oak Park, IL coming across the finish line in the time of 46:35 which is a PR by 9 minutes and 2 seconds.

ChrisCarrerCI wasn’t sure how this would go given that I ran the marathon a week ago. However, I’ve only run one 10k prior, and that was coming off an injury where I took it easy and was not as fast as I am now. So, a PR was assured but my goal was to get 48:XX. I figured I’d start at 7:50ish and then try to maintain, perhaps even go a bit faster so I could reach six miles with enough padding to get the last .2 and finish under 49 minutes. Despite feeling like I’d just won the whole shebang, my time is good for 89th place. Hey, that sounds better than 9000th place I got at the Chicago Marathon, anyway. I knew I well exceeded my goal and I was surprised and pleased. I even wonder if, now knowing my capabilities, I could have run even faster. What about with fresher legs? It’s never enough, is it?

Mike Sheridan raced the Tadley 10 miler in Tadley, England finishing in the time of 1:05:45 which is a PR by 3:32.

Hadn’t run this distance since March 2013 and wanted to see where I was after Berlin Marathon. Met up with a number of local runners and had a fun time. The course was undulating and it was windy but we had bright sunshine which was great while running through the country lanes.
Started off hard and kept going……average pace 6:31 min/m which was good enough for 15th position overall and a 3:32 min PR.
Ist V50 & 1st V60 in the event and 3rd in the (age grade) UK national rankings for 2014. RC marathon (Sarah Crouch’s) training still paying dividends – 3rd PR in three weeks (Marathon; 5k and 10 miles).

Cristi Mirica ran the Azuga Trail Race 27K in Azuga, Romania completing this race distance in the time of 3:41:00 which is PR by 20 minutes.

CmThe race is +1650m ascent, -1650m descent. In the last part, after 20k, there is an ascent of 600m in 2km.
The weather was horrible, cold, strong wind and rain and the trails were really muddy.

Alex Tay competed in the 28th Mt. Kinabalu International Climbathon in Mount Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia completing this event in the time of 4 hours and 4 minutes.

Start from sea level 1563.8 Meter run up to 2760.3 Meter for 8km, then run down 3km and up for another 2km down to 2000Meter, from there another 10km down to 1600M. 14km on road and 9km mountain trail(technical).

Nancy Summers ran the RunFest 5K in Royse City, TX coming across the finish line in the time of 29:57.

This was a small, local 5K race in my hometown. But was really a lot of fun. Although I didn’t PR, this was my best 5K race time since being injured in January. Been a slow, more-downs-than-ups road to get back to where I am. Still have a ways to go to get back to pre-injury speed and to running pain-free. But I’m encouraged by the improvement since joining RC just a couple of months ago. Thanks, Coach Jamie!

Tim Peoples ran the Purdue Boilermaker Half Marathon in West Lafayette, Indiana finishing in the time of 2:04.

TimPThis was my first serious attempt at breaking 2 hours for a HM and working with Coach Jamie I had a great plan. I studied and memorized the plan and visualized the race. The morning of the race was cool so I pulled on the tights, gloves and cap to stay warm. I warmed up and stretched. The horn sounded and off we went into the dim light of sunrise. The first three miles were on plan and the down hill slope in miles 4, 5, 6 and 7 helped me stay around 9 minute miles. then the hills started as we had arrived at the Wabash River. First time over the river I felt o.k. but the return and back up the hill made the quads burn. Up to mile post 11 I was still confident in my overall pace even after the hills. Then I hit the three remaining hills which led to mile post 12. Those three hills killed me. I had run them many times over the last months but this day they were mountains. Lessons learned – 1)skip the tights, they rubbed my ankles raw, 2) do not skip water and powerade stations, I missed two in the middle of the race and felt it. 3) respect the HILLS but do not fear them 4) I have an awesome coach who is constantly encouraging me to push on.

Jason Bryant ran the Toughest 10k Galveston in Galveston, TX finishing this race event in the time of 51:52 which was a 23 seconds PR.

JasonI wasn’t expecting at all to PR in this race. This is an out-and-back race over a long bridge with a 3.5% incline, so it’s not the kind of course you associate with fast runs. On top of that it was a hot, sunny day with major humidity (100% to begin the morning). And to top it off the race started 30 minutes later than expected. Somehow I still managed to squeak out a PR by 23 seconds. I’m more proud of the fact that I executed this race completely by feel. I left my GPS watch at home and checked my phone with my bag. As I came up on the finish line I was expecting to see something like 55:00 on the race clock. I was pleasantly surprised when I turned the corner and saw 51:XX.  I feel like on a day with favorable conditions a sub-50:00 time is within my grasp. I hope to put that theory to the test at my next 10k in December.

Tia Supari ran the Combi Run 2014 10K in Alam Sutera, Tangerang-Indonesia in the time of 57:29 which is a PR by in 1 minute and 30 seconds.

I was not expected to get PB on this race, only had 2.5hours sleep but I believe my overall fitness improved and the training works, thanks to Coach Danny!8th of Indonesian female (closed category) in this race. Although not a big race still hapoy with the result and a good confidence boost for my FM next week in Jakarta Marathon

Michael Groner ran the St. Louis Rock and Roll Marathon in completing this race distance in the time of 4:54 which was a PR by 2o minutes.

m GRONERI have mixed emotions after this marathon. (My second marathon.) I am happy that I PR’ed the event by 20 minutes, but I finished much slower than I hoped and predicted by training. Just like my first marathon, I hit the wall hard around mile 22. I guess I still have a lot to learn. I hope this doesn’t sound too negative. Even though it wasn’t what I hoped for, I still loved the training and the race. I don’t know what event I will choose next, but I’m sure there will be a next time. As always, thank you to the coaches and community for all the advice and encouragement.

Jonathan Seashore ran his first marathon at the Denver Rock and Roll Marathon in Denver, Colorado completing this race distance in the time of 4:01:16.

JSeashoreThis was my first marathon. Two weeks earlier I experienced knee pain during my training. I still felt knee pain one week later. I didn’t run for 2 weeks beforehand and was concerned about finishing.

Rodney Daut ran the Hocus Pocus 5k in La Mirada, CA finishing in the time of 23:18 which is a 1 minute and 15 seconds PR.

I just came back from a two-week illness in which I couldn’t eat much food. This was the end of my first week back to running and I was a bit surprised that I could actually improve. I just wonder what I would have done if I hadn’t gotten sick.

Pebble Williams ran the BAA Half Marathon in coming across the finish line in the time o f 2:19:27 which was a course PR of 16 seconds.

PebblesI accomplished several goals in this race that are all very meaningful: 1) A 16 second PR for this particular course. Not a HM PR, but considering the inclines on this course, I was only going for beating my record on this course. 2) I had a personal goal to beat the hills and I did! Hills that used to feel like mountains were no big deal this time. I still lost time on the big hill at mile 11, but I did not lose my gas. I was still able to push in in mile 12 and coming into the last 100 meters, I ran my heart out like a speed work out and pulled out the 16 sec. “pr” 3) I made it through a training cycle injury-free! 4) I am still high from how disciplined I ran and how strong I felt even when the inclines were a formidable challenge.

Kevin Dorry ran the Staten Island Half in Staten Island, NY finishing this race in the time of 2:02:24 which is a PR of 40 seconds.

KDorryWas 2 weeks from the Berlin Marathon and thought I would just run the race for fun. Didn’t really care about time and didn’t have a watch or look at my splits. I went out a little too fast but still managed to come in 40 seconds under my best time which was a little surprise. Have to admit it was nice not concerning myself with splits and pacing and just listening to my body and enjoying the race.

Jamie Lewis ran the Des Moines 13.1 race in Des Moines finishing this race in the time of 2:09:16.

My sister and cousin ran their first marathons while my husband ran his 35th marathon. I think this one was my 19th half marathon and is my 3rd best time ever, best time in the past year.
