Team RunnersConnect is on a roll with 9PRS and many age group awards in distances from 5K to 50K.

Cynthia Morris ran the Echo Valley 50k in Chelan, Washington finishing this race distance in the time of 5:47:45 taking 3rd place Overall female and 1st in Age group.

CynthiaThis was a tune up race. Hot weather 77 plus degrees! Before the race my rt knee was locking and starting yesterday my left sciatic nerve went haywire so bad I had to lie on a hard floor to get it to subside. I just kept telling myself it would be ok. There was a 1 mile loop before heading up into the mtns. I had my crew wait for me to make sure I could even run. I felt better running than not! I followed coach Jamie’s race plan, drank every 10 mins with a gel on the half hrs like clockwork. Usually my last 10 miles suck but this time I felt strong all the way to the finish and did a first, I didn’t puke!! Negative split and a fast finish to boot! I got 3rd woman, top 10 in the race and was only 10 mins off my time on this course (they changed it this yr. went from 2200 ft of gain to 4500), a harder, longer and definitely hotter race. I am tickled pink! Can’t say thank you enough to coach Jamie and Runnersconnect!

Sean Regan ran the Minneapolis Marathon in Minneapolis, MN finishing the race in the time of 3:16:47 which is a PR of 8 minutes and 10 seconds.

SeanReagenThis was marathon #4 for me since I started marathon training 2.5 years ago. And it was the 3rd one I’ve run since joining RC. I realllly thought this was going to be the one! But I came up short – by 1 min 47 seconds. However, I gave it all I had. I pushed beyond my body’s limits. And it’s tough not to be pleased about another 8 minute marathon PR. My wife and daughters have been cheering me at every one of them. And what I’ll remember most about this one is what my oldest daughter said when she hugged me at the finish line. It was perfect. She said, “You’re not going to give up on your dream now, right Dad?” So I’ve got all the motivation I need to get back at it and crush BQ time this fall! Last, a big thanks to the RC team (coaches AND runners) for all of your support. It’s made a hugely positive impact on my training.

Martin Marker ran the Rock and Roll Marathon San Diego Marathon in San Diego, CA coming across the finish line with the time of 3:07:49 which is a 21 minute PR.

MMarker21 min PR and I didn’t completely fall apart like my first marathon last year. I’m learning and getting stronger so I’m stoked on that. Looking forward to breaking 3 on a flatter course.

Becky Venter ran the Christchurch Marathon 10K  in Christchurch, New Zealand coming across the finish line in the time of 47:33 which was a 40 seconds PR.

BeckyVI ran this tune-up race with my best friend in her hometown, which in itself made it very special! She has recently become a Runners Connect member too, and could quite possibly your Southern-most member 🙂 The day was crisp (-1 degrees with a frost at start time) with sunny skies and a very enthusiastic group of 5,800 competitors. This was the first year the race was able to be held in the city centre since the earthquakes in 2011. Running alongside the Avon river, through Hagley Park and around quake-damaged city streets was incredible and I feel extremely fortunate to be able to run in such a beautiful place.  While I did my first half marathon last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, I have decided to focus on 10km distances this year. Rather than pushing distance, I’m really keen to see how much I can improve my speed across 10kms. So my big lofty goal for this year is to run 10km in 45 minutes. Although I have some hard training ahead, I’m very happy with this race result.

Philippa Barrell ran the Christchurch Marathon 10K  in Christchurch, New Zealand finishing this race in the time of 55:47 which is a 2 minute PR.

PBarrellThis race was special as because my best buddy flew down from Auckland to run the race too. She is an awesome runner, way faster than me, and so by the time I’m approaching the finish she’s kindly got her camera out to record me finishing the race. I wish I could return the favor one day but I know the only way that will happen is if I do 10 km and she does 21 haha! We had a chilly start to the day, but the sun came out and it was perfect for running. Icing on the cake was doing a personal best for the 10 km.

Michelle Kirgan ran the South Miami Hospital Twilight 5k finishing this race event in the time of 29.35 which is a PR by 3 minutes.

MichelleKThis was my first 5K after starting this program to train for my second marathon and the first one I ran without taking walk breaks. My pace was 2 minutes faster than my last 5k. The training is really working…thank you RunnersConnect.

Erin Wedding ran the Lynn YMCA 5K in Nahant, MA coming across the finish line in the 22:33.

Disappointed in the time, should have been able to run over a minute faster. Most likely due to being sick and not being able to breathe normally.

Patrick Welch ran his first half marathon at the Out run Branford half marathon in Brandon CT finishing this race distance in the time of 1:51:07.

Ran as well as I can. Finished strong but nothing left. Great inspirational cause.  Cystic Fibrosis – outrun 38. Participant running 38 years old with the disease and in the last stages. Very sad very inspiring.

Rooney Kelly ran the Pelee Island Half Marathon in Pelee Island finishing the race event in the time of 2:08:27.

RooneyKellyThe Pelee Island Half Marathon yesterday was quite an experience because it took place during an intense storm. It was cold with torrential rain, wind and some flooding. The winds were really loud throughout the entire run and the birds ,which the island is known for, were crazy with chatter. It was a special experience. I am so glad I was a part of it even though many grand trees were lost to the wind and everyone was frozen and soaked before the race began.
There was flooding which meant running through some above ankle deep water at times. The run ended at a winery( Yes. A glass of wine awaits you) and parts of it were flooded. I put my best effort forward but had to walk at one point because of acute pain in both Achilles which are still killing me today. I don’t have a glue as to why this has happened. I have experienced no pain in my Achilles in the past.  On a final note, the island sits between American and Canadian islands and is a shared destination for both. I like that a lot because I love my American neighbours. O. I almost forgot. There are no banks or grocery stores on the island but there is one liquor store. So there you go.

Hein Mynhardt ran the Saskatoon half marathon in Saskatoon,Saskatchewan, Canada finishing this race in the time of 1:44:40.

First race after injury Oct. ’14. (Hamstring / piriform training to qualify for Boston – overtraining injury).
Ran a couple of Hm by myself over the past month and felt I could target a 1:45. Done it and leg is feeling fine. Exited to get back into it full board.

Dana Frissora competed in the Mighty Moraine a Sprint Tri in Moriane State Park and completing the run portion 1 minute and 29 seconds faster than her previous race which was good for a 1st in Age group award.

1/4 Mile Swim, 14 Bike, 5k. 5th overall Woman, 1st in age group.

Ryan Pesanka competed in the Spartan Beast Ohio in The Wilds, Cumberland, Ohio completing this course in the time of 2:37:26 which is a 14 minute PR for this event.

RyanPWhen doing Spartan Races its always kind of hard to compare race to race because of terrains and obstacles differ between the races, as does the exact distance. The last Spartan Beast I ran in 2:51 and this was was definitely more difficult. I also rolled my right ankle on the first obstacle about a 1/4 mile into the race. Started cramping about 10-11 miles in. I finished 67th in the Men’s Elite Field out of 276 finishers.

MJ Llamas ran the Patriot Running Festival Half Marathon in Williamsburg, VA finishing in the time of 2:16.

MJllamasPatriot Running Festival Half Marathon in Williamsburg, VA — hills, heat, horse poop, gorgeous trail, historic sites, more hills and more heat. That pretty much sums up the course and a great way to tour Colonial Williamsburg on foot 🙂 No PR for this race, but that’s okay. Because once again, I proved that my running fitness has reached an all time high since training with RC almost a year now. Pre-RC training, given a flat pancake course and mid 30’s temps, I struggled to finish between 2:30-245 HM and would usually need a few weeks to recover. Today, on a challenging course of hills, a variety of terrain and summer heat, I was able to finish at 2:16 and ready to bounce back a day later. I realize not every race will be a PR for me, but my biggest takeaway is that with consistent RC training, I am a stronger and more efficient runner. I have also matured as in knowing when to push and when to hold back, as well as able to make sm arter decisions on the course when things don’t go my way. For me, that’s a huge PR!! On a side note, this is my first long distance race to carry only energy gels (using FlipBelt) and relied solely on course-provided fluids. That was nerve-racking at first but I got used to it. And it was awesome to be free of the hydration belt, especially on a hot run. What a great way to end my Spring/Summer races. Thank you RunnersConnect!

Richard Thomas ran the North Shore Classic Half Marathon in Highland Park, Illinois coming across the finish line with a time of 2:15:43 which is a 1 minute and 5 second PR.

Cold, gray, windy morning for a HM. It was about 41F and winds were steady 10 mph with some heavy gusting. But it turned out that I guessed correctly on how to dress for the weather, which doesn’t always happen, and at least it didn’t rain. This HM kicked my butt. I was never so glad to see a finish line. Rolling hills throughout and one gut buster about mid race. And, did I mention the wind? There were white caps on Lake Michigan. But I did PR by a minute. And the race medal is HUGE. I almost fell over when they put it around my neck. But, I was ready to fall over anyway, so…Tough race, but a good day, and a PR, however slight.

Laura Thomas ran the Champs Run for the Music 5k in Aldie, VA coming across the finish line with a time of 23:52.

This was memorable because 2 things went wrong: 1) the start time was supposed to be 8am but the 5k didn’t start till 8:30 – so I tried warming up and had to do so longer then expected – one hour actually. Was hungry and tired by the time of the race. 2) the humidity level was high – 71 or more degrees and high humidity. The sun came out just prior to the race and no shade on the streets. I felt really bad most of the race. I felt like I was going to pass out. I came in 3rd for women overall and 1st in age group, but it reminds me how nice it is to run in the fall in Virginia.

Beth Lynch competed in the Rock hall 5K as the part of the run portion of a Tri finishing it in the time of 32:45 which is a PR by 2 minutes.

The end of a tri – felt much stronger running.
