Team RunnersConnect bringing in 5 PRs and several Age group Awards in all distances.

Siobhan Donegan ran the 40TH Annual Paul Mailman 10 Miler in Montpelier, VT finishing in the time of 1:15:22 which gave her a 2nd place in her Age Group Award.

SiobhanI had never actually run a 10 mile race so I guess this was an “instant PR.” I wasn’t sure how I was going to pace myself but decided it should at least be a little faster than my best half marathon pace. I decided to try to stay around 7:30/mile and then just guage my comfort zone as the race unfolded, hoping I wouldn’t need to slow down. I soon found a “pack” to keep me accountable and focused on my goal – perfect.

Rich Heinzman raced the Grandmas Marathon in Duluth, MN coming  across the finish line with a time of 2:58:13 which a PR by 8 minutes and 8 seconds.

RichHAfter running 3:06 last year, I set the goal to run sub-3. I trained hard and stayed focused since I had to knock off a considerable amount of time. Before the start of the race, I felt relaxed and confident that I would hit my goal. I didn’t have any pre-race jitters or nervousness. Since I had nailed all my workouts, I knew that I was about to run a sub-3. Now that I accomplished my goal, I have a decision to make about what my next goal will be.

Brian St.George raced the William A. Irvin 5K in Duluth, MN finishing in the time of 17:35 which placed him 9th place overall and gave him a 1st in his Age Group award.

Brian St. GeorgeRegardless of the outcome and how I feel about it, I still enjoyed the event. I had my family cheering for me at the start & finish. My wife and kids are very supportive of me and I take great pride in inspiring my kids to dream big and get out there someday themselves. As my little boy (4 yrs old) said at the starting line, “Dad, I want you to get 1st…or 2nd…or maybe even 3rd”. I replied “I’ll do my best budd

Cristi Mirica ran the Retezat 28K Trail Race in which in the Retezat Mountains in Romania completing this distance with a time of 5:40 which was almost a 2 hour improvement over last year.

CmThis is “my race of the year”. 28k with +2300 ascent, very technical. Finished in 7:33:00 last year

Pebble Williams ran the BAA 10k in Boston this weekend finishing this race with a time of 1:02:45.

PebblesI’m still high from a HM PR a month ago, but I approached this race with a little training fatigue. Still, I’m very pleased that I ran a hard, consistent race and kept to my pace. I missed a PR by 30 seconds. That makes me want to train hard for next year on this course! Can’t wait. Thanks again RC Coaches!

Emily Pilotte ran the Sharon Timlin 5K in Hopkinton, MA coming across the finish line with the time of 21:31 which was a 33 second PR.

EmilyThrew this on the calendar to see where I stood, so it was a good test of fitness. I went out too fast, so paid the price for that by suffering through it. Looks like I need more practice in the 5K! This race in our town always draws a pretty competitive field. They also have a lot of activities for kids, so it was a fun morning for the entire family.

Paul Kovacevic ran the Sri Chinmoy 5K in Albert Park completing this race with a time of 24:41. This was his first race in 12 months after coming off of 2 calf injuries.

Only improved by 4 sec from last race, but in context of coming back from injury that lasted for three months, a reasonable outcome under the circumstances.

Marilyn Tams ran the Waterton to Glacier Relay in Cardston, AB – East Glacier, MT. She ran 2 legs of the race which were 4.6 miles and 3.4 miles.

MarylinTThis Relay Race was an Awesome experience! This is the second year I have done this and it was so much fun. I ran faster paces than last year, about 30 seconds per mile faster on both legs that I did. So feeling pretty good about that :). All in all its a great! There’s just something about piling into vehicles and cheering on your teammates while you wait to run your leg.

Marlena Dlutek ran the MEC Series 21.1K  which is NS, Canada and finishing in the distance in the time of 1:39:22 which placed in First Female Overall winner.

Trail race, pretty difficult terrain, loose gravel, rocks. My time was much faster then last year( around 20 min) , I got the first place female.

Russell Friedberg ran the Rock n Roll Seattle Half Marathon which is pretty hilly course and finished with the time of 1:31:46.

RussellFJust another Rock n Roll. Really nice course. The last mile measured really long – but still put in a 6:50 pace throughout.

Russ Shupe ran the Dan Patch Days 5K in Savage, MN finishing in the time of 25:36 which a PR of 1 minute and 51 seconds from his last 5K in November of 2013 and also placing 3rd in his age group.

RussThis race this special because it was the 1 year anniversary of the first race I had ever run in my life after starting a C25K program last year. Last year (my first one) I ran the Dan Patch in 34:35 and was dead last in my age group (50+) – this year, about a 9:00 minute improvement and I placed 3rd in the 50+, 27th overall. Last year’s result (which I was still quite pleased with) inspired me to want to try training for distances and so I signed up for a 10K training program. The other really special thing about Saturday’s race was I was able to have my wife, who doesn’t run, join me in the 1 mile family fun run that followed the 5K. She and I did a nice little run/walk around the course together. All in all, a great day!

Gavin Ward ran the Monaco Marathon in Nelson, New Zealand finishing the distance in the time of 3.58.20 which is a PR by 1 minute and 40 seconds.

I think I have finally fixed my cramping problem. Got through the whole run with out a twinge. Massive. Great weather, people and scenery.

Hannah Spanner ran the Ashford 5k in Wicklow, Ireland coming across the finish line in the time of 20.42 giving her a 2nd place Female Award.

HannahFound it a tough race with the heat and also first mile uphill was a push shoulder to shoulder with the other lead lady. Battled it out stride by stride for the first half of the race but the heat killed me off and I lost her in the second half of the race as she finished about 30 seconds ahead of me. I finished in 2nd place (female) so was still delighted, although still haven’t beaten my 5k best yet – NEXT TIME 🙂
