16 PRs from the 5K to the Marathon for Team RC over the weekend

Dennis Moore ran the Garmin Land of Oz Half Marathon finishing in the time of 1:54:12 which was a 2 minute and 5 second PR. The conditions on the course went from pleasant to monsoon-like rain, wind and hail. He was went out a bit too fast with the pace group but was still able to run a solid race.

Dennis MoorePR Baby!In spite of several areas for improvement, and the weather, I was able to eak out a small PR of 2:05 over my previous HM best. Official finish was 1:54:12. Still chasing sub 1:50, and two more chances to do so before summer. I ended today feeling confident that had conditions been a little better, and had I trusted the training better, I can still get there!

Aaron Sobel ran the Green 6.2 10K in the time of 53:42 which was a 40 second PR. It is a way a bit more humid than normal on race day. He worked hard to hang on after hitting the wall at mile 4 and still come away with a PR.

Another progress step in my return to running. I was trying for a qualifier (51:08) into the Houston Half for next Jan. to avoid the the lottery. I didn’t get it, but I did get a PR. And there were humid conditions, which I usually don’t run well in, and I was happy I didn’t let it affect me and still a got a PR.

Kyle Bowman raced the Glass City Half Marathon finishing in 1:15:50 which was a PR. Unfortunately had windy conditions and having to run most of the race alone as no one was around him to pace off. He was still able to maintain an impressive pace and have even splits.

KyleOverall the race went well based upon what my training has consisted of. Most of my workouts were around 6:00 min pace.

Stacy Thomas raced the Crazy Legs Classic 8K finishing in 39:12 giving her a 2 minute and 50 second PR.

It was my 5th consecutive year and fast time running this race. It starts by the state capitol building and end in Camp Randall (the Univ. Wisc.-Madison Football stadium). It’s a very fun race!

Jessica Wallace ran the Istanbul Half Marathon completing the distance in 1:52:32 feeling great after last km in 4:47. Running a smart paced race going out conservatively and closing with some fast kms to come in strong and confident. This effort gave Jessica a 33rd overall place and 5th in age group.

MAYBE I could have eeked out a 1:50 but probably not much more than that. I am super proud of myself for not going out too fast. That has been my problem with races for far too many years. I actually negative split this one and ran my last km in 4:47. That felt pretty.darn.good.

Eric Eidsmoe ran the Maple Syrup Festival Race in Shepherd, Michigan completing his race in 53:56 which was a PR.

Eric EThis was simply a more fun way to run my 8 miles easy. I did 1.8 miles to warm up before the race. I didn’t want to run them afterwards because the main feature of the race was an all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage breakfast afterwards!

Karl-Olav Gravdal ran the Bergen City Half marathon in Bergen, Norway in the time of 1:40:27 which a PR by 4 minutes in 29 seconds.

KarlNice day with perfect weather and a great, but hard route. Improved my PR quite a bit, although the race was far from flat. Finished strong, with the last 10k being one of my fastest 10k ever.

Jesse Nakatsuru raced the Vancouver Sun Run 10K finishing in 47:01 which gave him a 3 minute and 30 second PR in the 10K.

Extremely happy about my results and shaving 3.5 mins off my time from the same race last year. This was special as it really validates all the hard work over the past year and pushing through those tough training days in the rain, in the freezing cold and when life itself can be exhausting. It also gives me tonnes of confidence heading into my HM next week and already know that I will beat my PR…it’s just by how much? Thanks to the RC team for really an amazing training program.

Brenda Steedman ran the Sydney Trail Series 10K in Sydney, Australia completing in the time of 1:24:11. Having never run this course, Brenda was unfamiliar with the route as well as the trail being very steep and gaining 358m of elevation over 10km.

I like trail runs but this was the hardest one I’ve run so far. The organisation is great – as well as the 10km distance there is a 7k, a 22k and a 24k ultra on the same day. One of the 22k guys finished the race and said ‘that was brutal!’, so at least I knew I wasn’t alone in thinking it was a hard run. At least I didn’t get lost like a few runners did. The best thing is that this race makes my goal half marathon next month, on nice even smooth roads look easy in comparison!

Brian St. George raced the HOPE Springs 5k in Hibbing, MN flying into the finish at 17:52.

Brian St. GeorgeAfter a day to let it all soak in, I am happy with my progress at this point in the season. I have raced a 5k three weeks in a row and finished off with my best time yet this year. I ran the same 3 races last year to start my season, and have finished them 59, 38, & 32 seconds faster this year.

Clare Gan ran the New Jersey Half marathon in the time of 1:55:03 which gave her a 7 minute PR. After training hard in the cold, snowy, icy days of winter of Pennsylvania, these results made it worth it.

Clare2Achieving a sub 2 hour time for a half marathon was a personal goal so I am pleased with 1:55 finishing time. It is a 7 minute improvement from my first half marathon in September 2013.. Seven minutes drop in time following six months of training is significant!

Samantha McMenamy raced the Newport 5K finishing in the time of 26 minutes flat which was a 1 minute and 50 second PR as well as receiving a 3rd in age group award.

Samantha MSunday would have been my father’s 74th birthday, and the first birthday since he passed in September. I ran it for him. Not only getting a PR, but also to place 3rd in my age category (0-99) is a huge accomplishment for me, especially considering I have a hard time quieting the doubts enough to call myself a “runner.” It was a special day.

Doug Fernandez ran the Boston Marathon is a stellar time of 2:34:43 which was a 3 minute PR.

The people of Boston made this race special.

Scott Hannon ran the challenging and hilly La Jolla Half Marathon in the time of 1:54:30 which was over a 4 minute PR.

Scott Hannon2nd place for 65-69 Men. 30 in my age group, 6000 overall. Challenging course with steep hill in middle. Thanks for your help Runner’s connect!

Jim Welland raced the Rat Race 5K in Loveland, Ohio in the time of 23:17.

JimIt was a flat course but the temp was 75 deg F which is warm for a race. The race was followed by a “party” with a live band, foot and drinks. Fun evening!

Julia Labovsky ran the Nike Women’s Half Marathon in Washington, DC completing the distance in 1:51:57. After dealing with a stress fracture through the winter, Julia only had a few weeks to prepare for this race.

JuliaI focused on good posture and staying relaxed and was thrilled not to bonk and to have something left to give for the last mile. It turned out to be just a minute away from my PR. I think that improved strength and form made up for a lot of my lost fitness. It left me feeling good about continuing to build a base for the Chicago marathon – 24 weeks away.

Sylvie Dolbec ran the Défi des cocos 5K in Quebec, Canada in the time of 38:29 which is a 3 minute and 16 second PR. She trained very hard over the winter for this challenging race course. Her pacing on racing day was executed perfectly.

SylvieMaybe I could have gone a little bit faster during the last part or sprinted a little bit longer, but other than that, I feel that my race was perfect and what’s even better: I didn’t come even close to FINISHING LAST! (240/265) It’s my fourth race and the first time I don’t finish last. I’m so very happy!  Thank you RC. I’m looking forward to seeing what I’ll be able to accomplish for my staircase challenge in June.

Nancy Howard took part in the American Odyssey Relay which went from Gettysburg, PA to DC running a total in of 15.5 for her leg of the race.

NancyHad an amazing running with 11 other runners across the hills of PA, running the Civil War Battlefields of Gettysburg, Antitem, Harper’s Ferry, along the Potomac and C&O canal into DC–sooo much fun!

Iva Juric ran the Rijecki Polumaraton a 21KM race in Croatia finishing in 2:11:00 which was a 19 minute PR.

19 min better than same race last year.

Sergio Calvo raced the Clasica Sol & Arena 10K in Puntarenas, Costa Rica in time of 54:24. This race is one of the most popular races in Costa Rica as it travels along the beach with 5,000 runners in attendance.

SergioI am thrilled since the last time I ran it a few years back I had to walk at certain points and it was really hard to make it to the end. This time I was able to finish solid, managing my pace all the way (despite of not having a GPS and with no distance signals on route).  My time at this time is not official (pending results release). Official would probably be a some more minutes behind. However it comes not so far from my 10K personal record. Something I consider great given the fact that this is in general a race not considered suitable for attempting PR’s.

Jennifer Sheely ran a 8K in Baltimore in the time of 24:53. Coming off the Boston marathon, Jennifer was testing out her legs.

Carol Grisso ran the Ruston Way 5K in time of 24:40 which was a 1 minute PR.

Carol GrissoWith aging declines, my goal of going under 00:25:00 seemed “unreachable’.

Eric Gutke ran the Singleton 10k in Norcross, Georgia completing it in 53:18 which was a PR of 3:24.

Eric GCrummy weather, 51F and light rain. I’ve only been on RunnersConnect for a little over a week, but for the first time I was utilizing a comprehensive warm-up routine and 10k race strategy as prescribed by RC. I’d say both paid off since I finished with a new 10k PR of 53:17, an improvement of 3:24 which is HUGE! I think I’d have broken 53:00, if only I had tied my shoe properly.
