5 PRs and Awesome Boston Tune-Up Races Highlight the Weekend for Team RunnersConnect

Catherine Smith ran the hilly and challenging Georgia Half marathon in 1:57:45 which was a PR by 1 minute. She was able get run a solid time despite have frigid cold temps and dealing with winds.

Catherine Although I didn’t run as fast as I would have liked, I did PR by 1 min. The course was much hillier than I anticipated.

Greg Doherty ran the Beaufort Twilight Run 8K in 40:26 which was a 2 minute and 26 second PR. He ran a smart race with consistent splits finishing the last miles the fastest.

Greg DGreat evening run, weather was perfect. Ran w/3 other guys from work including Keith Hughes who is a teammate here.

Laura Wiatt ran the Malden Rotary 5k in 20:34 which was a 1:04PR. She ran a very strong race despite waking up with a head cold on race morning. This race was a confidence booster going into the Boston Marathon.

L WiattNot only did I get a PR, but I also won the female race! Upon starting with runnersconnect, one of my 2014 goals was to break 21:00 in a 5k. So, I have to revise that to a goal of breaking 20:00 in a 5k!

Michelle Hall ran a half marathon in a time of 1:40:08 which is a PR by 1 minute and 27 seconds. The goal was to run this half marathon as a tune up race for the Boston Marathon.

This race is the first one since my last PR in a HM in August 2013. There I went from a 1:43:25 to a 1:41:35.  It was nice to see I am improving my race time even as this race was part of a 50 mile week – one of my longest.

Richard Grogan ran a local 5K in 25:25 placing as one of the top finishers.

R GrogranThe event was put on by the PTA of my grand children’s elementary school and the course ran through my neighborhood.

Glenna Champion ran a half marathon as a training run finishing in 1:28:22. This half marathon was a tune up race preparing Glenna for the Boston Marathon.

GlennaJust a training race in preparation for Boston… Not my best performance but I had fun and that was my goal!

Sean Regan ran a huge 15 minute PR in the half marathon finishing in 1:36:42. This was a impressive run given Sean was coming off a three week down period  of no running due to a knee injury.

seanStarted out below marathon pace, but felt really good right through first half of the race slightly below marathon pace. So kept it going! Breathing felt EASY at this pace the entire race. But legs were a different story…Nevertheless, this is my 2nd half marathon and it was a PB by 15 minutes…feels great!!
