5 PRs and several first ever races in the Marathon, Half and 10 miler.

Alexandre Charest ran the Marathon Baie-des-Chaleurs in Carleton-sur-mer, QC, Canada finishing in the time of 3:33:46 which was a PR of 5 minutes and 4 seconds. He was able to run this time on an usually hot day with little shade.

acI broke my personal best by a little more than 5 minutes so I think that I’m on the right way! And that old PR was done in a cloudy mid 40s day, a far better temperature for marathon racing!

Martin Marker ran the San Diego Marathon in San Diego, CA finishing the distance for the first time in the time of 3:28:05.

My first marathon! I started off solid but crashed and burned for the last 6.2. It was a good learning experience. I had know idea how gnarley those last miles would be.

Dean Morley raced the Dorking 10m in Dorking UK coming across the finish line in a time of  1:04:15 which was a personal best give it was his first time racing this distance.

dean-morleyHit a PB as my first run at 10m – but they all count 🙂 Hilly/ undulating race meant keeping to a firm place plan wasn’t going to work, but tried to judge by effort.

Robert Carroll ran the Stockholm Marathon, in Stockhom, Sweden finishing his first marathon with a time of 4:29:51. After battling cramping in hamstrings and moving through the legs in the last two miles, he was able to get finish strong.

Completed the Stockholm Marathon – my first marathon! 4:29:51 Really tough.

Kyle Bowman ran the Lou Cox 5K in Dayton, Ohio coming across the finish line in the time of 15:56.

KyleOne of the most competitive races in the Dayton area. Typically 15.30 places you in the top 15. I wanted to run this race because it’s not very often I get to see competition like this. I ran pretty well considering I only did 1 5k workout leading up to it and all my other training has been towards the half I did in April.

Jerry Kurinsky ran the 3 mile portion of  the Tejas Triathlon in the time of 20:03 which was a PR of 42 seconds.

JerryKThis is one of my favorite things to do with my 13 year old son who is a swimmer. We hook up with a cyclist friend and do triathlons as a relay team. A total blast!

Tom Benoit ran what he named the Tom Benoit First Annual Solo Half-Marathon finishing in the time of 2:04:41 in his first attempt at the half marathon distance. After missing his scheduled half marathon due to illness, Tom was determined to run his half marathon just a week after his missed race.

I was able to beet my goal pace of 9:35 by 4 seconds and ran my first-ever negative split of 9:37 first 6.55 miles and 9:25 the second 6.55 miles. The RC plan called for me to run the last 1.1 miles “as fast as possible”. I ran it in 8:48. Gotta say, that made me pretty darned pleased.

Matthew Stewart ran the Comrades Marathon in Durban, South Africa which is the distance of 90km which he completed in 8:49:26 which was a PR over 8 minutes.

MstewartAnother tough, hot Comrades. Stitch from 20k, cramp from 40k. 8 minute PR, another Bill Rowan medal and a back-to-back medal too

Johan M Ekeström ran the Stockholm marathon in Stockholm, Sweden coming across the finish line with a time of 2:56:36 which was a PR of over 8 minutes.

johanI was aiming for 4:00 min/km and did very well 30 km. Despite a lot of careful preparations to avoid bonking, I hit the wall at km 30. Very painful journey to the finish line.

Eduard de Vries ran the Pond Cove Cape Challenge 5K in Cape Elizabeth, Maine finishing this distance with a time of 29:50.

EduardDLocal school run to raise funds for the school, nasty hill in the last 200 yards. First run with my 9-year old son, he wanted to run under 30 minutes and did it. Not a personal record, definitely a personal best run 🙂 And the best part, he asked when we can run the next 5K, I have a running buddy for life!

Russell Friedberg ran the RNR San Diego Half Marathon in San Diego completing the distance with a time of 1:29:11 which was his 5th straight sub 1:30 Half marathon.

RussellFI got to run most of it paced by Meb. Finished right in front of him and got him to sign my medal. On a running note – despite struggling in training the past couple of weeks, I achieved my 5th consecutive Half Marathon in less than 90 minutes and my 4th in 5 weeks.

Greg Myers ran the Extreme Mad Dash 5-mile Trail Run in Hamburg, PA finishing this trail race in the time of 50:55.

GMyersVery steep up hills, but stunning scenery. Great day for a run.

Greg Kline ran the Sunburst Marathon in South Bend Indiana finishing in the time of 3:42:03. This is second marathon within 8 weeks and was hoping to PR but the heat caught up with him.

GregKIt was a great race. According to my GPS my time was 3:39:08 which is only 1-2 minutes off my April PR marathon time. I know my official clock time is really what counts though. I tried very hard to start off slow as directed. I was watching my phone for several of the first few miles. I made a very purposeful attempt to take my time. Everything was going well – even with my foot – until mile 23, where  I slowed down considerably. The heat was getting to me at this point. It was only 79 degrees, but I was very hot.
