5 PRs Highlights the Weekend for Team RunnersConnect

Alberto Pinton raced the Kungsholmen Runt 10K in Stockholm, Sweden finishing in the time of 39:45 which was a 53 second PR.

AlbertPFirst time ever under 40min. I’ve developed as an adult runner since my first 10k race, which I ran in the Summer of 2011 in 45.31. I had no idea what I was doing, basically. I’d been running for a few months and just kept a pace I thought I could manage all the way. Today was no different, in that respect, but I know a little more about running 🙂

Adam Feder ran the Run for Kids Challenge 50K in Pelham. AL completing the distance in the time of 6 hours and 53 minutes. This was his first time running this ultramarathon distance while raising over $3,500 to benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation to help fund research into childhood cancer. Adam’s close friends lost their little girl on Christmas Day 2012 to cancer so the charity is very near and dear to his heart.

AdamFThe race was terrific. The course was a 3.3 mile single track trail loop and very technical. Out own Cathy Smith ran with me and I think we both did a great job even though we probably went out too fast and faded in the second half. Overall a great experience except for when I got back to my car to see a flat tire.

Ray Constantine ran the Fargo Half marathon finishing in 2:20:08 which was a PR by 3 minutes and 10 seconds.

RayCMostly flat, great weather, friendly spectators… oh, and a PR! I took 16 seconds off my pace per minute. Had I known I was that close to getting under 2:20, I may have been able to exert a tiny bit more effort. All in all, I’m a very happy runner.

Mike Sheridan raced the Woodley 10k in the UK finishing in the time of 39:00 which was a 47 second PR. The race conditions were windy and Mike was racing this event with 4 other teams mates. They all got out fast so Mike ran his own race and slowly reeled them in, one quite quickly in the 2nd mile and two others just after halfway which I went through in 19:42 and then a long section into the wind before he came up behind the last of them with about a mile to go.

Finished 5 secs behind him but my second 5k was a new unofficial PR of19:18 (so negative split) for a 10k PR of 39:00 dead. This placed me 21/536 and I won both the V50 and V60 category – but they only gave me the V60 cup!

Mary Stocker ran the UW Bothell 5k in Bothell, WA coming across the finish line in the time of 25:55.

MarySThis isn’t a personal record but it is what I consider a modern day PR (within the last 10 years) since my personal best is 35 years ago.

Dennis Moore ran the Running With The Cows Half marathon in Kansas City finishing in the time of 1:56:02.

Dennis MooreUnique venue. Was touted as a “flat” course, but had almost 800 feet of total elevation through rolling hills all 13 miles. The quads are unusually sore. Finished almost 2 minutes shy of a personal best, but a good race nonetheless. Another great learning experience. This was the last of three HMs in the “Heartland 39.3 Series” which I will most likely do again next year.

Sean Regan ran the Fargo Marathon completing the distance in the time of 3:36:53 which was a PR of over 10 minutes. With this being only his second marathon, big things are in store for Sean. Sean had the support of his family at mile 11 and the finish made him feel on top of the world.

seanAlthough the finish time was initially disappointing, it was a 10 minute PR and I learned a lot here in my second marathon. Turns out picking BQ as my ultimate goal was a great choice…it’s tough! And I’ll get there.

Russell Friedberg ran the Fargo Half marathon coming across the finish line in the time of 1:29:11. He ran a great paced race with the last mile being the fastest.

russellWasn’t pushing for a PR, just went out and ran – didn’t look at the watch until mile 8. Still very happy with a 1:29:11. Fast course – that was only good for 95th overall out of 5100+.
