Jeroen Domensino ran the Santa Rosa Marathon in Santa Rosa, CA coming across the finish line in the time of 3:23:59 which is a PR of over 13 minutes.

JeroenDThe plan worked! Thank you very much for your help with training / race plans and your encouragement!

Kari Ingebritsen ran the The Glo Run 5K in Bloominton, MN finishing her first 5K in the time of 30 minutes.

KariIIt was my first time trying to run a full 5K. It was done late at night, and everyone was lit up with glow bracelets and other glow-in-the-dark items. There was a group of people on these spring like contraptions on their feet, and they were blasting music from their backpacks. I use them to pace myself with, especially at the end when I went as fast as I could to try and keep up with them. There were places along the path that were lit up with tunnels and neon animals. There were a few times people would stop to take pictures and I had to dodge them to not run into them. There was a large dance party after. It was a fun time. My phone and my friends phones said it was 3 miles, not 3.1 but I can’t control that. It was a lot of fun.

Richard Thomas ran the Peapod Half Madness in Batavia, Illinois coming across the finish line in the time of 2:12:07 which is a PR by over 3 minutes.

RichardThomasThis is the 4th time I’ve run this event, and for some reason I never remember how hilly it is, even though the route never changes. It is well organized, parking is easy and there is race day packet pickup, which is a BIG plus since this race is almost an hours drive from my house. They also have plenty of porta-potties, which is always a plus IMO. I tend to go out too fast, so I usually start towards the back of the pack because I find that the crowded conditions help to keep me in check. Then I slowly work my way up through the crowd. I don’t try to frantically dodge and weave, I just ease my way through, biding my time until I can work my way around people in front of me. This technique seems to work well to keep the pace down for the early miles. I felt pretty good the entire race although I was struggling at around mile 9. I had passed the 2:15 pace group earlier, and since I had started well behind them, I knew if I could just finish ahead of them I would have a PR. So when they caught up with me at about mile 10, I just ran with them until near the end and then kicked it for the last 1/4 mile.  The temps were ideal, 64F and overcast, but the humidity was 94%. A lot of accomplished runners in my age group, but I did manage to hit the middle, 7 out of 14.  All in all, a good race and I’m pleased with my performance.

Manish Dhruv ran the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon in Hyderabad, India completing this race in the time of 2:08.

ManishDA Humbling experience running this Half Marathon. 222m of elevation took toll on my legs and juiced me out at Km12. I was on track till Km 14 but then all of a sudden could not take the heat/humidity and slowed down drastically. At Km 18, one more flyover to climb and got cramps in my right leg; had to sit down on the side of the road for 2-3 minutes. Started limping till the next medical aid centre where they gave a little massage and sprayed my calfs. The last 3 km was all 6:30 pace and I knew that sub-2 was a distant possibility.Nevertheless, a lot of learning, I still need to get a lot stronger for this kind of beastly race. Thanks to my coaches and fellow members at RC for their motivation and believing in me.

Bill Leppert ran the Bluegrass Half Marathon Johnson City, TN finishing this race in the time of 1:37:44.

BillVery sick two days before. Stomach issue which resulted in a loss of 8 pounds in 18 hours. Almost didn’t go to race. Then almost quit at mile 4. But decided to finish even if slow, I ended up first in age group mostly because the 58 yr old in my age group won Grand Master with 1:29 on hilly course which was my original goal. Just glad I could finish. God is good.

Carol Grisso competed in the JBLM Dueces Wild Triathlon on Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA.

CarolGrissoJBLM Dueces Wild Triathlon was hit by sudden high windstorm which forced them to cancel during the run portion. The swim was much like an ocean swim and the gusts on the bike leg were a challenge. Four injured by falling trees. Made this one of the toughest triathlons for some of us!

Sergio Calvo ran the Powerade Challenge 21K in Belén, Costa Rica finishing this race in the time of 1:55:10.

SergioMy second best time in a half marathon! 1:27 behind my best time; which was last year on this same race. It is very significant to me because even though I was looking to break it, in perspective this is a huge achievement for two reasons. One, last year by this time my marathon was less than a month away, so my training was really peaking by the time I made the best time. Instead my marathon for this year is more than 3 months away. It really motivates being that close to where I was with a good time span to keep building up. Second, it took me several months to be back on consistent training after last year’s marathon. I did another half marathon a month ago which was a completely different story. I had to take walks during the last 6 KM and I was more than 27 minutes behind the time I just did today. This alone tells me the quality of the training I am undertaking if I keep it doing it consistently. My next marathon is looking good.

John Gardener ran the Severn Bridge Half Marathon in Old Severn Bridge, UK finishing this race distance in the time of 1:37:20 placing him 1st in his Age Group.

JohnGOnly the second race held here. M48 motorway closed especially for the race. It wasn’t a PB in my age category, but I was pleased with the time considering the steep hill and undulating roads! I came 1st in my category!
